How to Choose a Watch Strap: Size, Material and Fit

To choose the right strap, first measure the distance between the watch's lugs in millimetres. Then choose the material for how you will wear it, and finally a colour that suits the watch.

How to measure lug width

Measure between the inner edges of the two lugs that hold the strap. Common sizes are 18, 20 and 22 mm. Some sports and integrated-case models only fit their own straps.

Which material suits what?

Leather is elegant and comfortable but wears faster with water and sweat. Rubber suits use around water. A metal bracelet is durable but needs regular cleaning. Suede details give a sportier look.

Choosing colour and stitching

Black and navy are safe choices. Contrast stitching makes a strap stand out, while matching stitching looks simpler. The buckle should also match the case.

Care

Keep leather straps away from water and wipe them with a soft cloth. Rotating between straps helps them last.

You will find Audemars Piguet straps in the Guven Watches accessories section. Our service team also changes straps.
